White gold Engagement Rings

The bright, reflective quality of white gold enhances the natural brilliance of diamonds and magnifies the stunning colour of gemstones, for a breathtaking display of light.

White gold is an alloy of pure gold and white metals, such as palladium or silver. This alloy gives white gold extra durability, and creates its luxurious hue in engagement rings. As gold is naturally yellow, white gold rings are plated in a rare metal called rhodium to achieve a white, reflective finish.

The purity of white gold is measured in karats. The higher the karatage, the more pure gold it contains. Without an alloy, however, pure gold becomes too fragile and malleable. For this reason, we offer 18k gold rings which contain 18 parts gold and 6 parts alloying metal—the perfect balance between colour and durability.

Why choose white gold?

Why choose white gold?

White gold looks luxurious and sophisticated. It complements colourless and near colourless diamonds perfectly, and looks beautiful next to a range of skin tones. White gold enhances cool skin, calms rosy skin, and balances warm skin.

Our white gold rings are made from an alloy of 75% gold, 12% palladium and 13% silver. It is free from nickel, which can sometimes cause allergic reactions in people with sensitive skin.

White gold is strong and durable, but it still requires a little maintenance. With regular cleaning and polishing, you can make your white gold engagement ring stand the test of time.

Depending on how often you wear your ring, the rhodium plating of white gold wears down after one to two years. A faint yellow tint becomes visible, especially towards the bottom of the band. Many do not mind this look, but you can still restore your engagement ring to its luminous splendour by having it replated as part of our professional Clean & Polish service.
