Pear Cut Engagement Rings
Pear cuts, also known as pear shaped engagement rings, offer a soft and delicate appearance to every design. Resembling a teardrop, a pear shaped diamond has a round edge that tapers down into a single point. Pear diamonds have been used in many jewellery designs throughout history, and a pear engagement ring can often be completed with matching diamond teardrop earrings.
Due to its elongated shape, a pear shaped ring will make a wearer’s finger seem longer and more slender, just like other diamond shapes such as the marquise or oval. When securely nestled within a diamond halo, a pear diamond’s brilliance will be accentuated and magnified in your engagement ring. However, a solitaire piece will also bring all the attention to a centre pear gem, provided it is securely placed within a three-claw setting.
When choosing a pear engagement ring, be sure to check its cut grade, as a poorly cut diamond will reveal what is known as a ‘bow tie’: a dark area in the diamond’s centre resembling a bow. At 77 Diamonds, we only provide gems that are graded no lower than a ‘fair’ cut. For further information, please contact our jewellery experts.
